He is here! 20.5 inches, 8lbs 3oz! Delivered yesterday via c-section at 9:24. We went to the hospital at 10:30p.m. after contracting regularly since 3:30 that afternoon. I was only dilated to a 2. After an hour walk I progressed to a 3 and they decided to admit us. at 5.a.m. I was at a 4. She checked me again at 8:00a.m. (5/15/10) and I was still at a 4 so she artificially ruptured my bag of water. Immediately she found thick meconium and could feel that the baby wasn't head down as she thought and he was butt first (breech). So she booked an OR immediately and we were taken to surgery. What a scary time... I couldn't help but be emotional, after all this wasn't what we were expecting to do! Thankfully everything went well. Collin originally was sent to the NICU due to some retractions and grunting (respiratory distress). They checked his glucose levels and they were low. In NICU his respiratory status quickly improved but his sugars continued to drop. They put in a feeding tube to get him some nutrition and also gave him an IV for supplemental glucose. Last night they were able to pull the feeding tube because his glucose returned to a healthy level. This morning they were able to finally wean him off of the IV glucose. He will continue to be monitored in NICU until tomorrow morning, then we get to have him in our room where he belongs! He is such a sweet and peaceful baby. He has such a gentle personality and loves to snuggle. He is eating well and I have been able to nurse with him today. We are so happy and feel so blessed to have Collin in our lives!
