Today we took Collin in for his first appt with Dr Lisa. After the nurse took all of his updated info we headed to the scale to see how my little eater was doing with his weight gain. She told me before we weighed him that they like to see infants regain enough weight to be at their birth weight by two weeks old. Today Collin is 12 days old and he weighed 8 lbs 6.2 oz! He showed us! I remember having to take Nathan in every other day for a week to check his weight gain because it was so slow. It's makes me feel even better that his every 2-3 hour feedings are doing him some good! He was still at his birth length at 20.5 inches. Dr Lisa said everything looked great! His jaundice has completely cleared (only took a few days to clear after being home). He is still such a sweet little peaceful guy... hope it doesn't change too much! Yesterday I had a follow up appt and had my incision checked... everything looked great. I haven't taken anything for pain for a couple days and am feeling pretty good. I do get worn out easily by the end of the day if I am up and trying to take care of too many things. Collin is getting a little more predictable at night time. By midnight-one o'clock he has eaten enough to sleep a few hours before he gets hungry again and at that time he will nurse and go back to sleep. I'd say we average 4.5-7 hrs of sleep lately. We aren't sure if it's Collin or that we have experience now, but the second child seems to be a lot easier to manage than what it was like when Nathan was a newborn. Ryan went to work for a half day today and will do the same tomorrow. I like the gradual transition into me being alone with the boys during the day. It was a good afternoon with my two guys. Nathan took a good nap and he woke happy and with a "willing to share mommy" attitude. Collin of course was easy to manage as he only eats, sleeps, and poops right now! Nathan has seemed to get over any jealousy he was having towards his brother. He walks around asking to "help" all the time. We really couldn't be more blessed!
